We invite individuals and small groups (up to 3 people) between the ages of 14 and 19 to submit a short video (up to 7 minutes) focusing on critical issues of conservation or sustainability which face our region - Sustainability: Ecology, Economy, Community.
We invite perspectives, solutions, and passion from the youth of our community on current and future environmental/sustainability challenges posed to our planet and community. The video can involve anything from neighborhood or field projects to skits to oral presentations, and local interviews to picture productions displaying how you and other youth are, will, or want to:
- Encourage individual and collective action and ideas to address local to global environmental or sustainability issues,
- Use or develop new tools and/or strategies to engage local community members around local issues,
- Be engaged in addressing the importance of protecting our natural resources and how that affects your future,
- Bring knowledge and raise public awareness about the incredible great outdoors around southwest Oregon, local organizations or individuals doing good community-based work
- Highlight a special place in the region and talk about its significance to the community (i.e. Rogue River, Cathedral Hills, Siskiyou Mountains, Oregon Caves National Monument)
Three selected videos will be shown at the 2012 Siskyou FilmFest in Grants Pass High School’s Performing Arts Center. Winners and Honorable mentions will have their video posted on Siskiyou FilmFest’s website (www.siskiyoufilmfest.org) as recognition of their achievement.
Rules: The video submission must be no longer than seven minutes from start to finish, have significant relevance to conservation or sustainability. Participants must mail or drop-off a CD or DVD to KS Wild’s office, 950 SW 6th St in Grants Pass, or leave with Christopher Rossetta at GPHS for pick-up. Please include a high quality version (if possible) as well as a small web streamable version (no greater than 1GB) with completed entry forms.
Submissions must be received by January 9, 2012.
Judging Criteria: A team of judges will review each submission and make determinations at their own discretion. Applicants will be notified of their status by January 25, 2012.

Siskiyou FilmFest sincerely encourages creativity in the video submissions but please remember to obey copyright rules. CreativeCommons.org is a fantastic new program that allows you to use images, videos, and music (our suggestions: CCMixter.org, Jamendo.com, Musopen.com ) with limited restrictions- for FREE! Terms and Conditions for Youth Video Submission

Eligibility: Participants between the ages of 14-19 as of December 31, 2011 are eligible to enter. Contest is open to all students from Grants Pass and Three Rivers School District. Entries must be submitted by individuals or groups and not on behalf of corporate entities or organizations of any kind. Groups may consist of up to three individuals (each individual must adhere to all of the rules and regulations outlined in this document and complete a separate Entry Form).
Entry: One submission per participant. Video submissions should be no longer than seven minutes start to finish and have a significant relevance to the theme. Please send a high quality version (if possible) as well as a web streamable version (no greater than 1GB). Acceptable file formats are .mov, .avi, .wmv, or .mpg. Videos must be received by January 9, 2011. A completed Entry Form must accompany video submission. For submissions by groups, each individual must submit a completed Entry Form. All received materials will not be returned and become the property of the SFF. Videos must comply with copyright rules and regulations. Sources of information and materials used (ie. Music) must be properly acknowledged and credited in the video and/or the Entry Form.
Judging: Judges will select a first place, second place, and third place winner. Entries will be judged on their originality, creativity, relevancy to theme, and compliance with terms and conditions. Honorable mentions will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
Winners: Winners will be notified no later than January 25, 2012. One first place, second place, and third place winner will be selected. Winners will receive prizes to be announced. Honorable mentions will be awarded at the discretion of the judges and their videos will be featured online.
The event will be held on January 27 and 28, 2012 at the GPHS Performing Arts Center.
Other conditions: Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center (KS Wild) or Siskiyou FilmFest is not liable for any injuries on the participant’s part during filming, for broken equipment, or materials and services purchased to produce the submission. Participant assumes all responsibility for damages, injuries, and cost. KS Wild reserves the right to extend the submission deadline at their discretion. KS Wild and the Siskiyou FilmFest (SFF) reserve the right to broadcast entries once submitted. Forms of broadcast include but are not limited to streaming on the SFF website, YouTube, SFF Video Blog, etc. By submitting the participant grants all rights, title and interest to SFF in broadcasting but still maintains ownership of the video. The participant is responsible for materials and information used in the video and must properly acknowledge and credit sources. KS Wild or SFF are not responsible for copyright errors made in the videos. |
